double densed uncounthest hour of allbleakest age with a bad of wind and a barrel of rain

double densed uncounthest hour of allbleakest age with a bad of wind and a barrel of rain is an in-progress piece for resonators and brass. I’m keeping a composition log here as I work on it.

As of March 2025, I’m writing about other things here too.

This morning I’m considering just getting rid of the unit generator paradigm in astrid and libpippi altogether. Over the last few years I experimented with two approaches, recently deleting one of them. Both were set up to use one ugen abstraction / lifecycle, and named parameters for communication.

This morning I was thinking about how nice it feels to just write a stream callback in C, and not think about “ugens” – just avoid allocs and make samples. I’ve been working toward the ugen interface so python instruments can live code their graphs. Maybe that’s still worth preserving, but I like the idea of just writing the whole stream callback in C, and importing it into the python instrument as a plugin of sorts.

That approach is probably the simpler one for what I’m working on at the moment – a feedback system with mostly wood resonators and one floating metal resonator.
